Defendants: If you mess around in discovery, pay to charity

To all defendants, don’t mess around with discovery. I will make you pay a lot of money to charity.

In a case against Uber, the company was sanctioned $70,000 (in addition to fees and costs) for discovery violations. To Uber’s credit, it did not appeal and paid promptly to the Legal Foundation of Washington. It’s great timing because of lot of people will need legal help during the COVID-19 crisis.
